Hydroxychloroquine May Protect Against Renal Failure In SLE Patients.
MedPage Today (11/15, Walsh) reports, "Treatment with hydroxychloroquine among patients with systemic lupus erythematosus was significantly protective against the development of renal failure," according to a report at the annual meeting of the American College of Rheumatology. "Among a large cohort of patients, who have been followed since 1987 and who were not in renal failure at baseline, the use of the antimalarial drug during at least 50% of follow-up was associated with a 50% reduction in the development of renal failure
