(1/19, Ullman) reports a small, proof-of-concept study published in
BMC Medical Genomics "identified 56 genes that may be useful in
developing blood tests for the early detection of atherosclerosis in
asymptomatic patients." Because "diagnosing atherosclerosis at an early
stage in an effort to prevent further damage has proven difficult," the
authors sought "to develop an inexpensive and minimally invasive
screening tool for asymptomatic patients."
