Cranberry juice may reduce recurrent UTIs in children.

Reuters (12/2, Pittman) reports that according to a study published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases, for children who have been treated for a urinary tract infection (UTI), drinking cranberry juice every day may reduce the number of recurrent infections. Among 255 children, those who drank cranberry juice had a total of 27 infections and averaged 12 days per year taking antibiotics. In those youngsters not drinking juice, there were 47 infections, and the children averaged 18 days taking antibiotics.
