Calorie Source May Not Be Important In Weight Reduction.
Reuters (1/30, Grens) reports a study
in American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggesting that when losing
weight, there were no differences in results when using four diets with
different proportions of calorie sources. Researchers randomly assigned
dieters to four diets with varying proportions of protein, fat, and
carbohydrates and found that people did not stay with their assigned
diets,
yet patients who completed diets were able to maintain a weight loss of
eight pounds after two years. Researchers concluded that people trying
to lose weight should choose the diet easiest for them to adhere to.
