Many ESRD Patients May Lack Drug Coverage.

(3/10, Walsh) reported, "Many patients with end-stage renal disease
(ESRD) still lack insurance coverage for the medications they need to
manage their disease," according to a study
published online March 8 in the Journal of the American Society of
Nephrology. "In 2007, 17% of ESRD patients enrolled in Medicare had no
evident source of drug coverage," researchers from the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) found. "This was a slightly higher
number than in
the larger, non-ESRD Medicare population, where 15.4% of enrollees were
without drug coverage, the" study authors found.
