Taking antidepressants in pregnancy may raise hypertension risk.
he New York Times
(4/9, O'Connor) "Well" blog reported, "Taking antidepressants during
pregnancy raises the risk of high blood pressure in expectant mothers,"
according to a study
published online in the British Journal Of Clinical Pharmacology.
After examining
data on some 13,000 expectant mothers, "researchers found that women
taking antidepressants of any kind had a 53 percent greater risk of"
hypertension. Notably, pregnant women "who were taking Paxil
[paroxetine]...saw their risk rise even higher, by 81 percent."
