Waist Measurements May Predict CV Risk Factors In Overweight, Obese Teenagers.
MedPage Today
(4/3, Phend) reports, "Waist measurements may predict cardiovascular
risk factors in overweight and obese teens, according to a
population-based study
" published online in the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent
Medicine. Investigators found that "a high waist-to-height ratio was
associated with higher total cholesterol levels among overweight and
obese 14- to 15-year-olds (P<0.05)." The researchers reported that
"a high ratio also was associated with
significantly higher odds of hypertension among obese teens."
