Unnecessary Heart Screening Tests May Lead To Unnecessary Treatments.
According to a Washington Post
/Consumer Reports (1/3) article, one "might assume...that even if you
have no symptoms," cardiac screening "tests are still helpful because
they will either reassure you or alert you to conditions you weren't
aware of." The Post points out, however, that "a stress test with
normal results can create a false sense of security, which might cause
you to relax your healthful habits," while "an abnormal test might cause
unnecessary worry and depression," or even
"invasive and potentially harmful testing and treatment."
