Study Identifies Genes That Could Help Diagnose Hardening Of Arteries.

MedPage Today Share to FacebookShare to Twitter (1/19, Ullman) reports a small, proof-of-concept study published in BMC Medical Genomics "identified 56 genes that may be useful in developing blood tests for the early detection of atherosclerosis in asymptomatic patients." Because "diagnosing atherosclerosis at an early stage in an effort to prevent further damage has proven difficult," the authors sought "to develop an inexpensive and minimally invasive screening tool for asymptomatic patients."
