WSJournal Column Reviews New Wireless Glucometer.

On the front of its Personal Journal section, the Wall Street Journal Share to FacebookShare to Twitter (1/5, D1, Mossberg, Subscription Publication) reviews in its "Personal Technology" column a new wireless glucometer for patients with diabetes. Called the Telcare meter, the new device will not only measure blood sugar, but will also transmit the readings to an accessible database that can be read by patients, physicians and family members. The device defaults to the T-Mobile network, but will shift automatically to other networks if T-Mobile is not available. Drawbacks are high price, poor battery life, and user inability to get test strips or the meter itself from pharmacies. Instead, patients must buy the meter and its supplies directly from Telcare.
