Normoglycemia Reversion Associated With Reduced Risk Of Progression To Full Diabetes.

MedWire Share to FacebookShare to Twitter (6/22, Robertson) reports, "Individuals with prediabetes have a significantly reduced risk for progressing to full diabetes if they have a history of reverting to normal glucose regulation," according to a study Share to FacebookShare to Twitter published online June 16 in The Lancet. "During a mean 5.4-year follow-up study of participants from the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), the investigators found that prediabetic individuals were 56% less likely to progress to diabetes if they had reverted to normal glucose regulation at least once during DPP." The study authors also pointed out that the "reduction in risk applies irrespective of how the reversion was achieved or however transiently."
