Permanent Stress Linked to Diabetes.

Men who reported permanent stress had a 45% higher risk of developing diabetes compared with men who reported having no or periodic stress in a 35-year prospective follow-up study of nearly 7500 men in Sweden. The link between stress and diabetes was slightly attenuated but remained significant after adjusting for age, socioeconomic status, physical inactivity, BMI, systolic blood pressure, and use of blood pressure-lowering medication. The findings are published in the journal Diabetic Medicine.
