Medicare Proposes New Quality Measures for ESRD Quality Incentive Program.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has proposed two new quality measures for the ESRD Quality Incentive Program, one dealing with how dialysis clinics perform in controlling hospital readmissions within the first 30 days, and the second dealing with how well anemia treatment is managed. The draft anemia measure includes a proposal to return the "floor" hemoglobin level. The readmission measure would be a standardized readmission ratio. The agency announced that it is accepting public comments on the two measures through April 18.
